Scheme Implementation Concepts |
The manner in which the scheme will be administered is one which will promote a 'lead-by-example' concept in respect of environmental (and other responsible business) best-practices. Outlined below are a few concepts which govern the scheme administration.
Environmental
- Maximum use of electronic, and other methods of, internal and external communication and promotion which do not use paper
- Where this is not possible, only recycled or ecological paper will be used for communications and promotion
- The Green Office Scheme will accept and foster collaboration with other similar schemes both on a local level, and internationally.
- Where possible, preferred use, and the promotion (amongst participant agencies), of products or other entities which have been awarded with an eco-label
Continuous improvement
- An action performance review will be conducted after every six month period and suggested improvements (resulting from such review) will be analysed and implemented.
- Research on international best practices conducted every six months will ensure that knowledge is constantly maintained up-to-date.
- The criteria list of best practices will be revised once every 2-years (unless the periodic reviews and the research indicate a need for early revision).
- Such revision will involve the scheme participant agencies at a decision making level.
- Each new version will be more up-to-date with international best practices and will be more stringent that the previous list.
Responsible business
- The Green Office scheme will maintain transparency in its application process, criteria list review process, and other administrative and assessment tasks, which will be readily available to the public through its website.
- The Green Office scheme will maintain all data pertaining to individual agencies strictly confidential, although such data, represented in non-confidential manners, will be readily available to students, researchers, policy makers and to the public at large, upon request.
